Looking at the pd screen, it says "pdp:can't load library" and "pidip:can't load library". <explicative>…
I recall seeing a Using Pd w/Gem tutorial, but can't remember where I saw it. Checking blog to see if the link is on here.
Okay, I know this could be wrong, but I am not finding Gem anywhere in my pd files. If it is built-in and I'm just being dumb, well, ooops. I am going to try something that I saw on http://gem.iem.at/download/GEM.README. I am downloading Gem and unzipping it in pd/gem. So I am going to go into pd right now and create a new folder called Gem.
Now I am downloading gem-0.90.1-NTi586-bin-doc.zip and extracting the files to ___ /pd/gem.
Now I am going to GemInstall.bat and right clicking on it.
I will edit line 3 of the install file to read set PDPATH=C:\program files\\pd and line 6 to read set PDVERSION=0.38.4
I am running the Gem_Install file. A bunch of numbers ran up a screen that flashed onto the monitor. I think that means it's good to go. Let's find out.

No dice. Still same message:
pdp:can't load library
pidip:can't load library
What am I doing wrong?

I realized that I never finshed the about me section by putting a pic there, so I just did that. You can find it here: http://primmitiv.wordpress.com/tag/about-me/ .

Here: http://gem.iem.at/tutorial/GEMtutorial.pdf
It says: "I would assume that SHE is already familiar with the basic concepts of buiding patches with pd, the difference between object and message boxes and with the differences between messages and signals.
I'm definitely no prodigy when it comes to Pd, so I am going to take an hour or so to go throught the Pd manual and "bone-up".

Glad I put all of those links on the previous blog b/c when I updated Adobe, I had to restart and close everything. Not that I couldn't find the links again, it just save me some time.

Okay, the link is telling me to go to the Gem manual. If it is the same tutorial that it gives on the web, I'm toally up a crick, you know? Nevertheless, I will figure it out.
I found some good info in this file: C:\Program Files\pd\doc\5.reference\Gem . Once I find the manual, I'm sure I'll be in better shape.
Okay, errrrrrrr, the manual is located here: http://gem.iem.at/
Awesome, Adobe is frozen while it's updating, so I can just sit here and blog around aimlessly…….
Okay it's telling me I need to close down this program before installing the updates, so ttfnb'z.

Okay, call me wierd, but there's just something about the word "code" that makes me want to turn around and run, but not today, I will prevail!
Pulling up the snail demo.
Going to look into the Gem tutorials to get some basic knowledge before I start tinkering. As easy as it would be just to copy the code that John used, I would like to try out some basic stuff first. Gem tutorials at: http://gem.iem.at/manual/GemWPd.htmlb <–where I'm checking first…
Don't need that one, going to: http://gem.iem.at/manual/GemFaq.html <–This is the right stuff.

It appears that I did install the wrong version of Pd. Nice. So, let's see, where do I go from here? Going back to the wiki: http://wikihost.org/wikis/techartsound/programm/gebo.prg?name=pd, it says to replace the pd/extra file, and it looks like that is the last step =D
Alright, it's working!!!!!!! HoLy explicative, batman!

Project Propaganda Screenshot.avi Okay, for the first time, I have about four solid hours to invest in one sitting. Today, I will get Gem working, there’s no way around it. Since the last time I was on here, I had a striking development. Apparently I had pd all along, I just was not aware that it had been installed w/the pd extended version. I don’t feel like all of the work I did was a loss, though, as I learned a lot through the experimentation, as well as got an awesome video editor out of the whole escapade =) So here goes, what a day it will be =D

I got the file converted, finally and running. I have also managed to get a copy of Sony Vegas 5.0, which is a timeline editing system that will also allow me to incorporate my own audio. I'm debating calling it done for the night as I am tired and have made a good amount of progress today…

Okay, so I moved the video from cassette to memory card, now the memory card is in my computer and the video is running great. Now all I need to do, is scour the internet for a free movie converter b/c this camera records in MPEG4 and I need to have .mov files? I hope this is correct. So, to find a video editor that is free that I preferably don't have to steal……I will go to google.com and do a search for "free video editor". Let's see what comes up.
Found a free 30 day trial of a software called Video Edit Magic Express to edit the vids. Sorry, no open source for this, I just don't feel like messing with it. Gotta have the training wheels. I hope I have enough space for it.
Well, download successful, but execution, not so much. Apparently some of the streams in my file are in an unsupported file format. The properties of the file say it's an .asf file. I looked that up in google and it said .asf is one of those proprietaries which means it's not compatible w/anything…in lamen terms. So, found a way to convert from .asf to .avi @: http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/asf2avi.html. Just requires downloading some free software, virtual dub.
Now I'm opening virtual dub and pulling up my video file. <BRICK WALL>.
Well, that was a dud. I get the following message when I follow the directions on this page: http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/asf2avi.html
ASF: illegal object fragment flags 00 in packet 1400
I am assuming that means something like: yeah, we're on to you, stupid, so give it up.
